One of the most magical projects from the new Acufactum book, A Handmade Winter. A tiny house for woodland creatures, Christmas treasures and a little bit of imagination.
The Mushroom House looks as though it has stepped straight out of a little woodland story.
The three-dimensional mushroom is sewn with a softly shaped cap and a wonderful hollow opening in the stem, creating a tiny little hideaway that can be filled with fairy lights, miniature figures, greenery or other small treasures. It is such a charming piece to display throughout autumn and winter, and especially lovely tucked into a Christmas vignette.
The project combines beautiful Acufactum fabrics with classic checks and tiny prints, giving it that wonderful European storybook feeling. The book shows the Mushroom House in both soft natural tones and a cheerful red version, each with its own completely different personality.
Because of its three-dimensional construction, this project is a little more involved than a simple flat sewing project, but the instructions take you through the construction step by step.
