The Woodland View Placemat is such a charming way to bring a little storybook magic to the table. It looks almost like a delicate paper-cut silhouette framing a winter woodland scene, with squirrels, foxes and tiny forest characters peeking through the trees.
The dark outer frame gives the placemat a wonderful sense of depth, while appliquéd trees and branches overlap the printed Acufactum fabric beneath. The result is a beautifully layered scene that feels cozy, whimsical and just a little bit magical.
I think these would be especially lovely for an autumn or winter table, and made as a set, they would create such a special woodland setting for family dinners and holiday gatherings.
Finished size: approximately 19¾" × 15¾".
Skill Level: Intermediate
The project includes appliqué, working with fusible web and fusible fleece, constructing the shaped window frame, and topstitching. The trees and branches are cut from the frame fabric and appliquéd over the feature print before the placemat is assembled.
