Tariffs FAQ

We’ve had lots of questions about tariffs and upcoming price changes. Here are the key answers for our Canadian, American and international customers.

🇺🇸 For Our U.S. Customers

Yes. U.S. Customs applies tariffs when your package crosses the border, but will be paid for upfront when you place your order. We then forward the tariff we collected to the U.S. customs agents. This means no hassle for you. We will take care of the brokerage fees and any other details.

No. U.S. shops also pay tariffs when they import fabric from the wholesaler, and their base prices are higher to cover those costs.

With us, you may see tariffs added at delivery. With a U.S. shop, the tariffs are already built into the retail price.

Either way, tariffs are part of the cost — the difference is only when and how you see them.

We must follow the strict guidelines set out by the United States government. There are no tariffs on books or educational materials (such as patterns), nor on digital products. There are also no tariffs on any products manufactured in the U.S.A, Canada, and Mexico. This includes kits as the kit is cut and assembled in Canada and therefore falls under USMCA/CUSMA (free trade agreement between Canada and the USA)

🇨🇦 For Our Canadian and other international Customers

No. Tariffs only apply when fabric is imported into the U.S.

Yes, these products will have a general price increase due to the tariffs the U.S. companies had to pay when they imported the products in from the manufacturer to the U.S.A.
