Sajou Embroidery Scissors Tortoiseshell Style Flower

As with all the Private Collection scissors, this one is inspired by the French Charles X style: the handles have tortoiseshell effect handles, a very popular material of the time, and the blades are fine and delicate. Together they make a very light pair of scissors that are a delight to use. These scissors, including the pompom, are entirely MADE IN FRANCE

It should be pointed out that it takes a dozen qualified people to make each pair.

Size: 11.8 cm
Our scissors are presented in a Sajou box. A label on the inside cover explains the manufacturing process.

Quality scissors can be recognized by, among other things, their pairing marks (you will notice the number "77" on the photos presented here) : these are the signs that the blades have been perfectly adjusted for the start of their fabrication. An important detail enables us to judge the quality of a pair of scissors; the pairing marks - the number which you can see on the interior of each of the blades( you will notice the number "6" on the photos presented here). This number is different on each pair of scissors and indicates that both parts have been paired together from the first assemblage to make a perfect match. After the first fitting, the scissors are taken apart and each shear undergoes the different processing operations before being reassembled and finished. In the 19th century such scissors would need the craftsmanship of a cutler for the steel blades and an ornamental turner for the tortoiseshell work. Nowadays the distribution of the work is quite similar: the blades are still made by a master cutler, and the handles are created in our own ateliers.
